Farm Fresh To You

I love getting stuff delivered to me. If it will make my life easier I want it to come straight to my door. Which is EXACTLY what Farm Fresh To You does. They deliver organic produce from their family farm directly to my (or your) doorstep. First of all they had me at deliver…and second of all it’s organic! BONUS! I could see it now….no more going to the grocery store every couple of days to get my fresh produce and no more looking through the mounds of fruits and veggies with no idea where they came from. Farm Fresh to you has been growing organic produce since 1976 and they have over 60 different types of fruits and veggies! And you get to choose which box you want. They have over 14 different boxes to choose from including the mixed fruit and veggies box, the no cooking box (Helloooo! My fav!) and the fruit only or veggie only.

FARM FRESH TO YOU – THE BOX

Farm-Fresh-To-You box

I know it’s close to the holidays so I can say that when my box arrived I was as giddy as a kid on Christmas morning. It came straight to my door in the time frame that they told me it would be delivered. My kids were home and they started to wonder what fabulous fruits were inside. They really didn’t say much about the veggies but my husband sure did. He loves my cooking and was excited to get to try some new veggie dishes.

Farm-Fresh-To-You Smell

And let me tell you something about the wonderful smell!! When I opened the box the smell that came out was so fragrant and fresh. It was like we were in the middle of the farm smelling all these wonderful organic things. Inside the box you also get a newsletter directly from your farmer. It includes info about the farm, some recipes and usually a coupon if you share this wonderful service with a friend.

Farm-Fresh-To-You Veggies and Fruits

Here is what came in this weeks box:

  • 3 Ruby Grapefruits
  • 4 Fuji Apples
  • 4 D’Anjou Pears
  • 2 Butternut Squash
  • 1 lb Russian Banana Potatoes
  • 2 lbs Satsuma Mandarins
  • 2 Naval Oranges
  • 1 bunch Nantes Carrots
  • 1 bunch Celery
  • 1 King Richard Leek
  • 1 bunch Broccoli
  • 1 head Lettuce
  • 1 bunch Spinach
  • 4 Kiwis
  • 2 Mango Oranges
  • 2 bunches mixed herbs
  • 1 Meyer lemon

Farm-Fresh-To-You Lunch time

The next day for lunch I was so excited to dive right into all the yummy fruits and veggies I got. I decided to have a gigantic Satsuma Mandarin and a few stalks of celery. Now normally I put peanut butter or ranch on my celery but these were so sweet I didn’t need anything! And the Satsuma Mandarin was juicy and delicious. I perfect pairing with my home-made French Onion Soup.

FARM FRESH TO YOU – THE RECIPE

Farm-Fresh-To-You Ingredients

There were 2 recipes included in the newsletter. They were both broccoli recipes. Now I have to be honest and tell you that my family aren’t big broccoli fans unless its slathered with cheese sauce. When I told me husband I was making broccoli with no cheese sauce he politely said he would try it but to not get my hopes up. I decided to make Magic Broccoli. It sounded magical so I thought what the heck….why not? The ingredients are:

  • 1 medium head of broccoli
  • 1 garlic cloves finely sliced (I used the pre-cut garlic that you can buy in bulk…we like garlic so I used a tad more than 1 clove)
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil separated (you are going to use 1 tablespoon before cooking and 1 tablespoon after cooking)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt (adjust to your taste)
  • Black Pepper
  • Zest of a quarter of a lemon
  • 3/4 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon freshly grated parmesan (I used the non freshly grated but it’s what I had in my cupboard)

So the first step is to pre-heat your oven to 350 degree F. Then you cut the broccoli into florets and pile onto a baking tray.

Farm-Fresh-To-You broccoli and garlic

Drizzle with 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil, scatter with garlic, salt and pepper. Use your fingers to toss, then spread out over tray in a single layer. Adjust the salt to your taste. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until the tips of the florets are slightly browned. The broccoli should be “tender crisp” meaning just cooked through, not overcooked and floppy.

Remove from the oven and immediately drizzle over lemon juice and remaining 1 tablespoon olive oil. Toss to combine. Scatter over lemon zest and Parmesan cheese then serve immediately.

Farm-Fresh-To-You Dinner

I served it with ribs and mashed potatoes. My husband took one bite and was floored at how good it was. He actually admitted it didn’t need cheese sauce! I was impressed with myself as well because I liked it so much. This is definitely a fan favorite and will be served again. As long as my Farm Fresh To You boxes keep coming with broccoli I will keep making Magic Broccoli!

Tokyotreat- a fun new subscription service!

Tokyotreat box

I don’t know about you but I love to get monthly subscription boxes. The way they work is you pay a monthly fee and they send you an assortment of whatever their company sells. Well I have found the perfect one for my family! It’s called Tokyotreat! They are delicious sweets and treats from Japan. And they literally get sent to you from Japan. So everything you get is in Japanese. But don’t worry! Their mini magazine that comes with each box is in English so you know exactly what you are getting.

TOKYOTREAT UNBOXING

Taste Testing

Tokyotreat Tacos Chips

The first thing we tried was the Taco flavored chips. They were very flavorful! Both kids loved these and wanted me to see if I could order more so they could take some in their lunch to school!

Tokyotreat String Candy

Next, we tried the String Candy. So the flavor in the magazine says Grape and Muscat flavor. I looked up the word Muscat and it’s another name for Grape so it’s Grape and Grape flavor. But if you look on the package it shows that if you twist the 2 candies together it turns into a Peach flavor. And you know what….it totally did!!! It was yum-o!

Tokyotreat Look and Bonus

Look and the bonus treat was next. Look was creamy and chocolatey and was gone in about 2 seconds flat. Luckily I took a couple before the kids wolfed the rest down! The bonus treat was a flakey cookie with a coconut and vanilla center. It was pretty good!

Tokyotreat Mr. Fun Bakery

Next, we decided to make the DIY ice cream kit. Since everything is in Japanese you have to follow the pictures so you know how to make the candy. Luckily we are big fans of Nerunerunerune which is another diy Japanese candy so we knew what to do. It was fun to make and even more fun to eat! Of course, my daughter loved it because it was pink…with sprinkles!

Tokyotreat Peko Poco Chocolate

We tried the Fujiya Peko and Poko chocolate pops next. The chocolate was smooth and creamy. These come from a classic Japanese company called Fujiya which is very well-known in Japan.

TOKYOTREAT FORTUNE

Tokyotreat chopsticks fortune

And one last thing! Hiding in the bottom of the box were these Good Luck Fortune Chopsticks! I didn’t even see them when I was doing my unboxing video! But my son pointed them out so I let him have them. They are bamboo, traditional Japanese chopsticks with a fortune attached. What a lucky kid!

Disclosure

Have you ever wanted to start eating healthy but didn’t know how? Well, that would be me. I love all things bad for you but I knew I wanted to start eating healthy and get into better shape. My weight has been creeping up on me lately. I have a life coach who is also my best friend named Michael. She sent me a whole bunch of smoothie recipes and guess where they went……in my drawer where I can’t even see them. Out of site, out of mind right? Then I found Greenblender. YOU GUYS THIS IS GENIOUS! This is a weekly service that sends you all the ingredients you need to make 5 delicious and healthy smoothies. Each recipe is good for 2 smoothies each so that is 10 smoothies!!

GREENBLENDER UNBOXING

Greenblender unboxing

I got my Greenblender box delivered right to my door and I was so excited! It’s packed really well and kept cold by an insulated bag and ice packs. As you open the box it has all these cute little saying all over like “Hey there good lookin'”. There is an informational brochure, recipe card, pack of 5 large straws (the kind they use for Boba drinks) and all the ingredients are labeled so you don’t ave to guess what anything is. Everything is already portioned out for you too so it takes the guesswork out of it. I could not wait to try it!

GREENBLENDER SMOOTHIES

Greenblender Butter Pecan

The first one I tried was the very first one on the list called Butter Pecan. The ingredients in this one are butternut squash, a whole banana, pecans, maple syrup, lucuma powder (a powder made from a fruit native to Peru) and coconut milk. Then ice and water of course. I don’t have a fancy schmancy blender so I just used my regular margarita blender. I put all the ingredients in, blended it up and poured it in 2 glasses. One for me and one for my daughter. And we both loved it! It was light, refreshing and tasted great! I couldn’t wait to try another one!

Greenblender Green Queen

The next day was the weekend so I made my hubby and I the Green Queen. It’s green so my kids were not into this one at all…..because I think they are allergic to green foods. Like all kids right? This one has lacinto kale, cucumber, a whole apple, ginger, chlorella (a blue-green algae native to Japan), lime juice and of course ice and water. I put everything in the blender, blended it up and served it. The ginger in this gives it a nice kick and the ingredients make it very fresh tasting. I could actually feel the health going down into my belly. The hubby told me that this one was one that made him feel healthy!

Greenblender Persimmon Mango

The next day I was on my own so I tried Persimmon Mango. This one was my absolute favorite out of the 5. The ingredients in this one are persimmon, cantaloupe, mango, walnuts, camu camu (an Amazonian superfruit), ice and water. I had never worked with persimmon before so I actually had to Google how to cut it up. (Seriously you can find everything on Google.) Cut up the cantaloupe, threw everything in the blender and voila! So refreshing and flavorful! Since I had enough for 2 smoothies I kept half of it and drank it for lunch along with my sandwich.

There were two other smoothies: Bok Choy Matcha and Morir Sonado but I don’t want to give away everything! But let me tell you this. They were delicious! Every week Greenblender will send you something different then the week before so it never gets boring. This service is so easy! So my bestie Michael is happy because I am drinking my smoothies and I am happy because it’s SUPER easy. So it’s a win/win!

Head on over to greenblender.com and sign up for this awesome service. You will not regret it!

Gaslamp Popcorn Co Holiday Flavors individuals

The flavors for this Holiday Season are:

  • Peppermint Candy
  • Pumpkin Spice
  • Holiday Cookie
  • Apple Crumble Pie

We tried all 4 and everyone liked something different. My daughter Rylee liked the Peppermint Candy I think because it had actual candy cane pieces mixed in the popcorn. My son Erik liked the Holiday Cookie because as he puts it “Who doesn’t like a good sugar cookie?” and my favorite was the Apple Crumble Pie. It really tastes just like apple pie but not super sweet. My hubby, on the other hand, liked the Pumpkin Spice Pie because he said “It tastes just like pumpkin pie!” You can tell what pie’s we chose for Thanksgiving ;)  All the flavors were amazing! If you love popcorn as much as we do or even if you like it just a little you will love these!
