California Pizza Kitchen Makes Mondays Better

I’m sure everyone can agree that Mondays are tough. Between school pick-ups and drop-offs, work, sports, homework, cleaning the house, making dinner and everything in between, Mondays make me want to stay in bed all day. But there is one thing I look forward to and that is my weekly lunch with my brother.

Last week we met up at CPK for a much-needed catch-up session and some good food in our bellies. One thing I love about CPK is that they offer lunch specials in portion sizes that are perfect for my appetite.

I always like to have a salad and appetizers for lunch so I started with my favorite wedge salad and soup. The lettuce is always crisp and green and it pairs perfectly with a bowl of split pea soup or Sedona tortilla soup. They even have an option where you can get both soups in one bowl.

And who can resist their avocado club egg rolls? I mean seriously!!  Unless you are gluten-free or on a strict diet these babies are a must. These hand-wrapped crispy wonton rolls filled with avocado, chicken, tomato, Monterey Jack and Nueske’s applewood smoked bacon. Then they are served with housemade ranchito sauce and herb ranch.

My brother chose the Pizza and half salad option and it was plenty to fill him up. CPK is known for their BBQ chicken pizza so of course that is what he ordered. Their legendary BBQ sauce, smoked Gouda, red onions, and cilantro transform make this my #1 favorite menu item.

My sister in law works at the hospital right next door to this particular CPK so she stopped by on her break to pick up a salad. It was made with cabbage, chicken, edamame, rice noodles, carrots, peanuts, wontons green onions and tossed with a lovely Thai peanut dressing. For a few more dollars, you can add fresh creamy avocado to it.

My son accompanied us on this particular day and he enjoyed a bowl full of buttered noodles with edamame. CPK has a very reasonable kids menu and they give out crayons to color. I liked that he had some “greens” in addition to the carbs he was eating.

But best of all are the .99 cent kids sundaes that CPK has. They only use  top of the line Haagen Daz ice cream so the flavors are incredible.

CPK is a great family choice and they recently added a reimagined menu. Check it out here
