Disclosure

A warm fire and movies under a blanket might sound nice on a cold wet rainy day. But let’s face it, kids need to move their bodies and be active and arts and crafts just isn’t going to cut it.  Fortunately we have a list of family fun things to do on rainy days in Orange County.

GlowZone HB

GlowZone in Huntington Beach is the newest evolution of Family Entertainment! Their challenge arenas feature modern, glow-inspired versions of your all-time family favorites such as laser tag, mini golf, rock climbing and arcade games, in addition to new cutting-edge attractions that will keep the whole family smiling! On recent visit there we spent hours playing together and making some awesome memories.

Bowling – We loved the bowling Alley at GlowZone. There is also an onsite restaurant and bar called the Rec Room where you can order food and drink. There are even USB ports where you can charge your phone while you play. Get 1 free hour of bowling from 3pm-10pm and you can watch the big game on the big screens. They have 6 twelve foot projection TV’s in the bowling alley and 8 TV’s in the bar!

Arcade – The games here are similar to what you would find in any arcade that puts points on a game card. Fruit ninja, skeeball,  wheel of fortune, etc…You can redeem your points for prizes in the glow shop which is located in front of bazooka Ball.

Rockwall – This wall is for the thrill seeker, offering a challenge to reach new heights. race your friends on the augmented wall and test your courage to the top.

Glow Mini Golf – Play a round on this unique and challenging spin on a favorite old pastime. The course is easy to play and has good lips on the edges to catch any rogue balls.

Ninja Course – Face off against your friends while you test your balance, strength, and coordination. Give it your all as you battle to be the last warrior standing. The turnover time on this attraction is slow so be prepared to wait.

Lazer Maze – This was such a blast and our family had so many belly laughs in here! Although the room is small it is mighty. There are black lights, fog and heart pounding music playing while you dip, dodge, jump and crawl your way through this maze of lasers.

Bazooka Ball – Hands down my favorite game to play here!! Bazooka Ball is a team game made up of paint less paintballs and laser tag. Even my 8 year old girly girl had a blast playing this.  They give you 10 minutes to play which is suprisigly a long time.

Spin Zone Bumper Cars – Take bumper card to the next level. Hit your friends or family with your car and spin out of control . If you get hit be sure to drive away fast. My husband didn’t want to go on and I made him and he loved it.

Birthday Parties At GlowZone

One of the things I was super impressed with was the party rooms. There was even one room called Electric Avenue. They had a light up dance floor that interacts with music and the “Just Dance” game.

Take the kids for a taste of your own childhood. And, Mom and Dad, you can go ahead and skate too. It’s easier than ice skating and a lot less cold. It’s also great exercise and just as fun as you remember. Don’t know how to skate, no problem. Fountain Valley Skating Center offers lessons for all ages.

All ages and skill levels are welcome. To enroll, just show up 20 minutes before your class starts.

Fee for Levels 1, 2, 3, and 4:
$15.00/class or $50 for 5 classes
(valid over an 8 week period). Skate rental & 11-1:30 PM session included.

Fee for Jr. Club:
$60.00/month.
Extra practice periods included. This class is for skaters in the Fountain Valley Skating Center’s artistic figure skating club.

Be sure to check the online calendars or call before heading out, especially if traveling some distance; all venues host private parties and skating events. To rent a “skate mate” wheeled PVC helper for beginners, confirm that they are both available and permitted during the open skate you want to attend. Rinks typically charge by the “session,” a scheduled block of time. For a smaller fee, skaters can roll over into the next session—but don’t arrive late in a session, because you will need to pay again.
