Radisson Blu Anaheim

One of the best things about living in Orange County is that there is a wide variety of staycation options suited for families of all interests. I love to stay in my own backyard, but I am extremely active and prefer to be in the middle of the action. Recently, I found a new hotel centrally located in the Anaheim Resort area that delivered all the items on my checklist! This deluxe and modern family-friendly resort is called The Radisson Blu Anaheim. You probably notice it when you drive on the 5 freeway due to its tall, sleek, and vertical look. The location of this resort is convenient for families planning a magical vacation to Disneyland Resort or business travelers attending nearby events and conventions. Thanks to the hotel’s proximity, sports enthusiasts can catch a game at Angel Stadium, and concert-goers will have easy access to Honda Center–each just two miles from the hotel. After an exciting day, guests can return to the hotel and unwind with premier accommodations and amenities, including two outdoor heated pools and hot tubs. The main level pool features a splash pad and cabanas, so your kids can have fun while you lounge in the shade. For a more sophisticated atmosphere, head to the rooftop pool area and relax with friends around a fire pit, enjoy local fireworks or grab a specialty drink from Blu SkyBar. With fresh, locally sourced ingredients and stunning rooftop views, there’s no finer place to experience Southern California.

Parking

Parking at The Radisson Blu Anaheim is abundant and they have a shaded parking garage attached to the hotel that is semi-secure. This definitely makes bringing your luggage in easy breezy. NOTE: Parking is $25 per day. Be sure to get your ticket and all the guests staying with you validated before exiting, otherwise, your ticket will not let you exit unless it is paid for.

Lobby

A playful aspect of this hotel is their incorporation of Disney-theming throughout. As you walk into the lobby you will be greeted by 3 Storm Troopers. These life-sized Stormtroopers made of resin and fiberglass, are placed in a throwback pose to the TV classic “Charlie’s Angels”. The figures were given a blue ombre pattern to connect the artwork to the visual language of the Radisson Blu brand. Further along, a large-scale sculptural piece titled “Candy” is a delicious reinterpretation of the Swiss Army Knife. Each “knife” has been replaced with a classic candy bar-inspired creation, with names that playfully hint at their real-world counterparts. Additional artwork for the hotel by Farran includes a pair of wall sculpture pieces made of Disney Legos, custom dimensional sculptures composed of repurposed comic book strips, and a custom mixed media paint brush-inspired piece. There is also a giant LED lite-brite display that was designed to look like a rollercoaster.

You will find that the furniture in the lobby is plush, upscale, and modern, with USB ports and power accessibility downstairs that is perfect for Zoom meetings.

Rooms

There are 6 different levels of rooms you can choose from:

  • King Room: Sleeps 2, one king bed, extra seating area with bench seating, 1 sink vanity, shower in bathroom
  • 2 Queen Room: Sleeps 4, two queen beds, 1 sink vanity, shower in bathroom
  • King 2 Twin Bunk Room: Sleeps 4, one king bed, two twin bunks, extra seating area with bench seating, 2 sink vanity, shower over tub in bathroom
  • 2 Queen 2 Twin Bunk Room: Sleeps 6, two queen beds, two twin bunks, 2 sink vanity, shower over tub in bathroom
  • 1 Bedroom King Suite: Sleeps 3, 1 king bed, sleeper sofa, living area, 2 sink vanity, shower over tub in bathroom plus separate shower, partially separated toilet area
  • Premium 1 Bedroom King Suite: Sleeps 4, 1 king bed, sleeper sofa, living area, 2 sink vanity, shower over tub in bathroom plus separate shower, separate door to toilet area

On a recent media visit, we stayed in a premium 1 Bedroom king suite with sweeping views of the Anaheim Resort area. All I can say is these rooms are totally worth it! Upon entry, you will find a comfortable sitting room with nostalgic pictures of Walt Disney with his cat, the old Disneyland Marquee, and other Disney-themed artwork. There is a wet bar in this room with a Nespresso maker, a refrigerator, and a sink (plus 2 wine glasses, an ice bucket, and a corkscrew). There is also a sleeper sofa and blackout curtains to keep the sun out.

The bathroom area was super spacious. I really liked that the toilet was separate from the shower area and had frosted glass for privacy. There are his and her sinks that are stocked with toiletries like mouthwash, lotions, soap, shower gel, shower caps, face and nail care products and so much more. Best of all though there are 2, yes 2 showerheads. 1 showerhead is so you can stand up and take a shower (even a wheelchair could be accommodated here) and the other showerhead is for the tub. This is great if you have littles.

The master bedroom has large windows, a double-wide closet with robes, slippers, a luggage rack, a chaise lounge, tons of storage, a flat-screen TV, a safe, an iron, lamps, and extra pillows. You can see DCA from your room, the madderhorn, incredicoaster and best of all the Disneyland fireworks!

Families with small kids also have the option of reserving a room with bunk beds! Radisson Blu offers a king or queen room with 2 twin bunk beds. They are perfect for a family of four because these standard rooms feature a set of bunk beds for the kids and a comfortable king or queen bed. Need to unwind from a day of roller coasters at Disney California Adventure® Park? Let the kids browse social media with free Wi-Fi while you watch your favorite show on the 55-inch flat-screen TV. You can all relax with refreshing drinks you’ve chilled in the fridge.

Gym

My husband works out a lot so we are always grateful when hotels have a nice gym on the premises. Fortunately, The Radisson Blu Anaheim does! The fitness center is located on the main floor, down the hall from the lobby and gift shop. It is very spacious and is equipped with three treadmills, two elliptical machines, free weights, and more. I loved the Mickey Mouse hands on the mirror, it was a great touch!

Pools

There are 2 pools at The Radisson Blu Anaheim. The Oasis Pool and the Rooftop pool. Here is everything you need to know about these

The Oasis Pool

The oasis pool, whirlpool, and kids splash pad are on the first floor and are family-friendly. This pool is open daily from 9 AM to 10 PM. Your room key will provide access. Pool towels are available in the pool enclosure. Please do not bring room towels to the pool area. There were plenty of loungers around the pool, as well as cabanas that are free of charge. There are nearly 50 outdoor seats inspired by the “Star Wars Tie Fighter Ships.

Rooftop Pool

The rooftop pool and whirlpool is for adults only. It is open daily from 9 AM to 10 PM. Your room key will provide access. Pool towels are available in the pool enclosure. Please do not bring room towels to the pool area.

Food and Beverage

Guests will have access to 4 different food and beverage options during their stay. Currently, the restaurants and bars are open, although they have reduced days and operating hours. The best place to eat in my opinion is BluSky Restaurant and Bar. It’s located on the 12th floor and its rooftop setting provides spectacular views where guests can enjoy SoCal’s year-round beautiful weather as well as features an exhibition kitchen, private dining room, pool, and a stunning outdoor dining terrace with fire pits.

Chef Edgar Beas takes inspiration from his experience cooking in the Basque Country of Spain to create playful yet familiar takes on Spanish dishes at BluSky. To accompany the menu is a Spanish-influenced beverage program and modern classics, resulting in an effortlessly cool craft cocktail bar. The bar features 20 taps that pour local craft beers from across California, and the wine list features bottles from Spain, California, Oregon, and the Old World.

FireLake Grill House & Cocktail Bar

My husband and I had breakfast here and the food was excellent and so was the service! I suggest going earlier as it is less busy. I can only speak about breakfast but you will find  traditional items like eggs, french toast,  and pancakes with a few surprises thrown in like mesquite duck hash.

FireLake Grill & Cocktail Bar Anaheim celebrates the seasonality of California ingredients as well as the signature wood-fired cooking of the FireLake brand. The new Anaheim location of the acclaimed American grill concept takes inspiration from its predecessors while also showcasing the freshest local and regional California produce, meat, and fish from a variety of Southern California farms. The restaurant also features a sampling of local beers as well as New & Old World-influenced wines from California, Oregon and France. The curated cocktail menu rounds out the guest experience an inspired selection of familiar favorites and reimagined classics.

Proximity to Disneyland/Angel Stadium/Honda Center

Convenience is always key to any vacation and  The Radisson Blu Anaheim is only four blocks away from the park’s gates. It’s also only 2 miles from both the honda center and Angel Stadium. On my recent stay there a group of us took an Uber from the hotel to the honda center to watch a Ducks VS. Kings game and it only took about 10 minutes. We even left early and it was super fast to catch an uber back to the hotel.

Pet Friendly

Did you know that the Radisson blu Anaheim is a pet-friendly hotel?  They collect a $100 non-refundable pet fee, charged to your room. There is no charge for service animals.

  • They accept dogs up to 40 lbs. and a maximum of up to 2 dogs per room.
  • Pets (except service animals) are not allowed in pool areas, and additional fees may be applied if necessary.  Pets must be on a leash in public areas.
  • Dogs must not be left alone in guest rooms. Barking dogs may result in eviction from the hotel.

Gift Shop

There is a super cute gift shop filled with all kinds of Disney merchandise on the first floor. They had everything from Disney t-shirts and hats to Disney lounge fly backpacks. There were also drinks and snacks available to purchase.

Shuttle Service /Tickets

Shuttle service to all of Anaheim is offered by ART (Anaheim Resort Transit). Pick-up and drop-off is located directly outside the main lobby. All-day passes are available for $^ for adults and $2.50 for children. You can also purchase Disneyland tickets straight from a QR code at the front desk.

Radisson Blu Anaheim Booking Discounts & Deals!

Interested in booking the Radisson Blu for your own vacation? I have two ways for Family Review Guide readers to snag a great deal.

First, you can book the Radisson Blu Anaheim through Family Review Guide partner Get Away Today where deep discounts are almost always available. Be sure to apply the code “FamilyGuide” for an additional $10 off vacation packages if you are booking discounted Disneyland park tickets through Get Away Today too.

Alternatively, book directly through the Radisson website. The hotel has some packages and discounts all its own, but I haven’t been able to come close to beating the Get Away Today pricing yet. That said, I know many of this site’s readers have their own reasons for preferring to book direct (like elite status, points earning, or a different cancellation policy), so do what works for you! And remember that if you do book your room directly via Radisson’s site, you should absolutely still book your park tickets through Get Away Today to save off of the Disney rack rates!

Things To Know

  1. The hotel offers guest laundry on the 11th floor.  The cost is $2.00 per load to wash and $2.00 per load to dry.
  2. They also offer off-site professional dry cleaning and laundry services.  A laundry bag and slip are in the closet of your guest room.
  3. The hotel has a strict “no party” policy in place. Any rooms left in extremely poor condition may be subject to a $250 cleaning fee.
  4. At check-in the hotel places a $75 incidental-charge hold on your credit card per night of your stay.  This hold will be released upon check out. If there are no outstanding charges to your room.  Your issuing bank will process the release.
