Odysseo Is Back In Irvine For The Holiday Season

Odysseo is a show unlike anything you have ever seen before. It will leave you with goosebumps and in awe of nature, technology, and the human spirit. Odysseo marries the equestrian arts, stage arts, and high-tech theatrical effects at never-before- seen levels. A veritable revolution in live performance, Odysseo comprises a list of superlatives: the world’s largest touring production and traveling big top, the biggest stage, the most beautiful visual effects, and the largest number of horses at liberty.

The show consists of 65 horses and 45 adults which work in unison to give the audience an amazing visual performance that will have all of your senses heightened. There are parts of the show where the horses roam free and also where they do tricks with their riders.

Visual Effects

A state of the art video screen will amaze you and transport you into different parts of the world. I was blown away at how real the scenes looked and it felt like I was right there within the center of it all.

Many times during the show the riders will bring the horses right up in front of you so you can have an up-close look at these beautiful and majestic creatures. If you see the show be sure to watch the gentle relationship between the horses and their handlers. You can absolutely tell how much the actors love the horses and how positively the horses respond to them. It is really quite something special!

Costumes

Pay close attention to the detail in the costumes. There are 350 costumes and 100 pairs of shoes and boots in the show. Artists may have up to seven different costumes. It was so fun to watch all of the costume changes! The costumes are adapted to the artists’ needs, especially those of the acrobats and riders, to facilitate their onstage movement while not compromising their appearance.

The life-sized carousel was incredible. It moved just like a real carousel only they had acrobatics performing beautiful displays of artistry.

My all time favorite part of the show was watching the horses play in the 40,000 gallons of water on stage for the horses and actors to play in. they will even have the horses splash you and you can tell the horses enjoy it.

I also enjoyed the many photo opportunities they arranged the horses in, to pose, walk and canter.

Tips for Odysseo

• Wear close-toed shoes. There is residual water on the ground after the show from the horses splashing in the water and you will want something with a tread on them.
• If you are sitting in the very front row, you may get splashed but you will also get to see the horses up close and personal.
• There is a live band performing music so look up to your left and right to watch them.
• The tent is climate controlled so chances are you won’t be cold and won’t need a heavy jacket.
• If you purchase the VIP package you are guaranteed front row seats plus you get a buffet, plus beer and wine.
• If you are wavering on seeing the show due to the price, don’t. It is worth every single penny.
• If your child has hearing sensitivities, I recommend bringing a pair of headphones as the orchestra can get loud at times.
