Dr. Scholl’s Sportie LA Event
The name Dr. Scholl’s is synonymous with foot care. Does your husband use the foot powder? Maybe your kid has had athlete’s foot. Gross, I know. Or possibly you know Dr. Scholl’s due to orthotics machines at Rite Aid or CVS that you are forever trying to get your kids off. Whichever way it is, the Dr. Scholl’s brand has been a household name since 1906.
Last night Dr. Scholl’s teamed up with Sportie LA (a style icon of LA) and launched their Original Exercise Sandal Collection in a very unique way. Sportie LA’s famous Melrose location was turned into a swanky nightclub where the two brands showcased what they both do best – comfort and style, by introducing five limited edition colors of the Original Exercise Sandal that are cobranded with the Sportie LA logo. As we entered the event we were treated to some sick beats courtesy of celebrity DJ Johnny Wujek, famous for mixing and being a stylist to stars like Katy Perry, Kate Mara and many more. Each guest in attendance received a pair of the Original Exercise Sandal and the opportunity to have renowned street artist EVOL paint them into a one of a kind piece of art. We dined on food from local food trucks Farmers Belly and Canvas and enjoyed signature drinks from Blue Ice Vodka and Bundaberg Ginger Beer. I heard that the lobster mac n cheese was to die for. The burgers looked fabulously delicious. If I weren’t gluten free I would have indulged. The party was attended by a very eclectic group of guests, from yours truly to fashion and beauty segment editors and stars like Taylor Spreitler (Melissa & Joey) and Claudia Lee (Hart of Dixie).Check it out!
Dr. Scholl’s Trivia
Here’s a little trivia for you…did you know that Dr. Scholl was a real person? William Mathias Scholl who was born the grandson of a cobbler. No, not the food dish, but a person who repairs shoes. He went from repairing shoes for extra money to getting his medical degree and starting his own company. He ultimately used his expertise in shoes combined with his medical background and the rest is history. I honestly didn’t know they made other style of shoes other than tennis shoes, which I love. The original version of this sandal dates back to 1960’s and they boast that they are not only perfectly simple, playfully chic, but also handcrafted in wood to last through the years.
This is my first pair of Dr. Scholl’s Original Exercise Sandal, though as the title might suggest they are not for exercising at all. They are beautiful and seem well built. Check out the Dr. Scholl’s shoe site for all the new and classic styles for Women and Men. I’ll need to wear my one of a kind signature sandal for the few days before I can give it much more of a review, but so far I’ve already gotten a lot of compliments.
