Being a foodie, I love to make a bunch of snacks for my husband and his buddies when they come over. Finger foods are always popular so I like to make chicken wings. This year I am trying out a new recipe – Dr Pepper Hot Wings. It only requires 3 main ingredients and can be cooked in the oven so you can make multiple batches at one time.
You’ll want to start by preheating your oven to 375 degrees. Arrange your wings on a baking sheet and spray with non-stick cooking spray and season with salt and pepper. Bake them according to instructions on the bag.
While wings are baking, make the sauce. In a small saucepan combine Dr Pepper hot sauce and brown sugar, whisk to combine. Bring mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes until sauce has reduced by half and slightly thickened. Whisk in cornstarch and heat for another 2 minutes to thicken sauce further.

You can also put them under the broiler for 2 minutes to heat/crisp them up. Serve them with celery sticks and pair them with can of ice-cold Dr Pepper.

Dr Pepper Hot Wings
Ingredients
- 1 lb of chicken wings about 12-15
- Cooking spray
- Salt & pepper
- 1 can 12 oz Dr Pepper
- ¼ cup hot sauce such as Franks Red Hot
- 2 Tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp cornstarch optional
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 375.
2. Line a baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack onto the baking sheet. Arrange chicken wings onto the wire rack. Spray wings lightly with cooking spray and sprinkle with salt and pepper.
3. Bake the wings for 1 hour until crispy and cooked through, flipping halfway through baking.
4. While wings are baking, make the sauce. In a small saucepan combine Dr Pepper, hot sauce and brown sugar, whisk to combine. Bring mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes until sauce has reduced by half and slightly thickened. Whisk in cornstarch and heat for another 2 minutes to thicken sauce further. (Cornstarch will be clumpy to need to whisk good or use less cornstarch).
5. Remove wings from oven and add them into the pot of sauce. Toss to coat all sides of wings with sauce.
Optional: Turn oven to broil and place sauce coated wings back onto the baking sheet. Broil for 3-5 minutes or until sauce is caramelized and glossy.
Wings are best served while hot.
