If you have ever wondered what Latin America is like but can’t see yourself getting there anytime soon, then I have the perfect solution for you! It’s called Churrascos and it is a meat lovers paradise! My family and I were invited to dine at this carnivorous cuisine for a media tasting and by the end of the night we were all extremely impressed.
When we first arrived we were a little nervous because it was a little fancier than we had imagined. We had a three year old and a seven year old with us so you can imagine our concern. However, we worried for nothing. Pedro the service manager greeted us and took us to our seats and made sure the kids were comfortable. Then Sergio, our waiter came and offered some suggestions from the menu.
One of the first things they will bring you are plantain chips with Chimichurri sauce. These are so good. The huge crispy chips are perfect for scooping. They also brought out some meat filled samosas that the kids seemed to enjoy.
My husband and I chose to order a trio of Ceviche. We got Blue Tilapia, Ahi and Lobster. The Tilapia had pieces of shrimp and crispy calamari mixed in, while the lobster had pieces of pork and avocado. I think my favorite was the Ahi. It had this black olive purée that was amazing.
Then it was time for our main course. My husband and son split a dish called Parrillada Mixta. This has a steep price at $36 but you definitely get what you paid for. Look at all of that meat! You get grilled beef filet, achiote pork loin, tamarind glazed ribs, chicken breast, two jumbo shrimp, spanish chorizo & picante chiles y cebollas. Even I had a few bites and there was still some left over. The flavors are incredible. There is so much going on here. Lots of great sauces and seasoning.
My entrée was a center cut beef tenderloin char-grilled and served with potato and vegetables. I had it cooked medium and it came out perfect.
They also served these potato dumplings that were very similar to hush puppies. They were soft and delicious.
Then it was time for dessert. Let me just tell you that this restaurant takes their desserts very seriously!! It was some of the best dessert I have ever had. First up were these little delectables called Alfajores, or dulce de leche short bread cookies. They were dusted in powdered sugar and they just melted in your mouth. I would have eaten the whole plate if my family wasn’t there.
We also had flan De Queso. It was really unique and had a lovely flavor.
But the best thing of the night was the Flaming Tres Leches! What a show they put on! My kids loved it. You can hear my daughter saying “fi-yah fi-yah” in the background.
We had a great experience here and wish they had a Churrascos in CA . There are 4 Churrascos locations. Visit https://www.cordua.com/churrascos-menu.html for more information.
