Ever since I was a little girl I can remember reading Garfield in the comic strips on Sunday mornings. Then as I got older my mom used to get me the Garfield comic strip books and I had a huge collection of those. Then I started watching the show on TV. I even remember having a Garfield birthday party at Burger King when I was 7.
So, when I was asked to review a new Garfield DVD called The Garfield Show: A Perfect Life I knew it would be awesome. Now that I have 3 kids of my own I have started introducing them to Garfield as well. I have a DVD player in my car so the first time I played this I couldn’t see it, I could only hear it because I was driving. But as I was driving I could hear my son and my daughter giggling infectiously. The story line is really funny. There are 6 episodes that show what’s really necessary for a purr-fect life:
- ooey-gooey lasagna,
- a slobbery puppy,
- a devoted human,
- and a favorite bear!
Garfield tries to hold on to these kitty treasures while giving Nermal a “make-under,” putting his spin on feline history, partying with his mice friends and going out on the town. Then Garfield discovers it’s not so easy to break a bad luck curse and shows a pampered pussycat what he’s missing.
When I finally watched it on the TV I could understand why my kids were laughing so much. The animation is really great and you totally get a feel for how Garfield loathes his cousin Nermal so much. Odie is just adorable too. I wanted to reach out and pet him because he just makes me smile. The kids and I are looking forward to our next Garfield movie and we even started recording a few of the episodes in the series.

I love garfield because that fat cat is like so cute, and enjoy his laziness as well.
