Kia Sorento Trunk Space

This past Christmas we packed up the kids and headed out for a fun road trip to Las Vegas in a new Kia Sorento! I have never understood the term “travel lightly” so we needed a car that was going to be able to hold everything for our large family of 5. Between suitcases, coolers and jackets we ended up having to fold the 3rd row down to make room for everything but that gave us a lot of extra space.

With a height-adjustable liftgate for a comfortable reach and hassle-free ceiling clearance, the Sorento is programmable customization to fit your needs. As a short person at 5’1, I found that to be extremely helpful!

Kia Sorento Ventilated and Heated Seats

Even with the third row was folded down we had a ton of room for our 5-hour trip. One of the neatest features I found a use for on the way there was the ventilated front seats. Goodbye sticky legs, hello cool seats! If you are feeling chilly, just switch on the heated seats and your legs and bottom will be nice a toasty. That was also a nice feature to have in Las Vegas because the temperature stayed at a consistent 30 degrees.

Smooth and Flawless Ride Through the Desert

The ride to Las Vegas was incredibly comfortable. The suspension is tight and it rides close to a sedan. Street noise is very minimal and there are so many awesome features in the Sorento. The 2016 Sorento offers modern, premium touches with Bluetooth connectivity for hands-free voice command, a soft-touch dashboard, and available Push-Button Start. These features also contributed to our flawless ride:

  • Blind-Spot Detection (BSD) System
  • Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA)
  • Advanced Smart Cruise Control (ASCC)
  • Forward Collision Warning System (FCWS)
  • Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS)
  • BLUETOOTH® Wireless Technology Hands-Free Connectivity
  • Steering-Wheel-Mounted Audio, Hands-Free Phone and Cruise Control Buttons

GPS

We never got lost thanks to the GPS system. It was so helpful in telling us how to navigate the back streets of Las Vegas and not get stuck in the bumper to bumper strip traffic. The Voice-Command Navigation with 8″ Display, UVO eServices & Sirius Traffic was extremely useful.

How Does Life

There is a lot of desert on the drive from our house to Las Vegas and we loved having satellite radio to listen to on the way there. The Infinity® Surround Sound Audio System with Clari-Fi™, Ten Speakers, External Amplifier & Subwoofer, HD Radio™ was a life saver. Car rides without music would mean my kids would have to talk to each other!!

Finally, we made it to our hotel! Doesn’t this car look so sharp sitting in Valet? It really is eye catching! We even had someone ask us what color it was because they wanted to get one just like it!

After we unloaded our baggage we hit the strip for some lunch. We pulled into a casino parking garage that was very full and the stalls were very narrow, but the parking assist made it a cinch for us. The available Surround View Monitor (SVM) provides a near-360° view of your Sorento right on your navigation screen. Multiple viewing modes offer maximum convenience as you navigate through tight spots.

Overall Experience

While we didn’t win big in Las Vegas, I felt we were plenty lucky with our Kia Sorento. It a great family vehicle with all the bells and whistles to make everyone happy. This was my second time ever driving a Kia and just like the first time it drove like a dream. Their cars are stylish and sleek and handle so nicely. I would recommend a Kia to anyone, especially families.
